Most of this web site is designed to meet most common accessibility guidelines. The base text size is deliberately larger than the popular eyestrain size found on many inconsiderate web sites. You can also make the text larger or smaller through the View/Text Size option in Internet Explorer or FireFox. This works on all pages except those that consist only of an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) downloadable document, since the Acrobat Reader uses its own magnification mechanism. If you make text larger, some of the popup submenus in the top links bar may become difficult to use. In all cases, there are alternative paths in case those submenus are not available or do not function correctly with your browser. Wherever possible, CSS techniques rather than tables have been used to provide the layout and order the page content logically.
Some of the documents contain elaborate pictures, but the pictures generally don't do more than provide a visual alternative for what is already in the text. One illustration, however, presents a particular challenge because there is no textual description for its content, and I'm still working on an auditory equivalent.
Unfortunately, some of the tools and demonstrations are not fully accessible yet, due in part to the dynamic nature of complex diagnostic displays that are tightly packed on the screen and are themselves updated by complex scripts. Suggestions and funding for enabling those tools and demonstrations, or specific designs for for alternative accessible versions, are of course welcome.
